KCR clears air on Raidurg lands

Hyderabad: Setting the record straight on the controversial land allotment to DLF Raidurg Developers (Aqua Space Developers), the subsidiary of My Home Group, Chief Mminister K Chandrasekhar Rao made it clear in the assembly that his government had no role in the allotment of land to the real estate firm as being alleged by Opposition political parties, especially the Telugu Desam Party.

Amid protests and interruptions by the Congress and TTDP members, KCR said all the land deals were done during previous Congress and Telugu Desam regimes and the allegations were aimed at tarnishing the image of the TRS government which was in no way concerned with the alleged irregularities in land allocations during the previous regimes.

Replying to the Calling Attention Motion moved by five members of the house including TDP MLAs A Revanth Reddy and Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, KCR said that My Home, DLF and many other companies had purchased land through open global tenders called by previous government.

'Then Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy had endorsed the file at the behest of then CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy and IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah came into the scene to construct a Gaming City in the land given to My Home group chairman J Rameshwar Rao. Some members had even blackmailed Rameswara Rao for money,' the CM thundered.

He made it clear to the house that the State government would not tolerate blackmailing by any politician to protect the interests of the investors in future. He said that he had merely given his nod to a decision which was approved by the Kiran Kumar Reddy led state government after the formation of the Telangana State.

'The decision related to stamp duty was pending due to the imposition of the President's Rule in the State after the resignation of Kiran Kumar Reddy government.

The file was referred to Governor ESL Narasimhan. After going through the file, the Governor wrote as LO (Lie Over) for the approval of the new government. I cleared it after assuming charge,' he said.

Adding that he had never committed any irregularity in his 40 year long political career from being single window chairman to the highest post of Union minister, KCR said that some members from the opposition parties made attempts to malign his and his government's image and urged the speaker to expel the members who make baseless allegations against the state government.

'There is nothing wrong in making allegations against each other in the House. But every allegation should be supported by valid proof as the Assembly is like a temple for all of us. If somebody makes baseless allegations in the House, the Speaker and the entire House should expel such members from the House in the same manner as Maharashtra Speaker did by expelling five MLAs from the house for five years after they attacked the State governor,' KCR said.

When Revanth Reddy tried to interrupt his speech, the Chief Minister took strong exception and asked Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary to protect the rights and honor of the members and take serious action against those who violate norms of democratic values in the House.

The CM slammed the Congress for failing to digest the facts he was revealing on the alleged land allocations during the Congress Government.

Soon after the Assembly reassembled after the first adjournment, KCR said the government has allotted 471 acres to APIIC at Serlingampally. The APIIC then sold some part of land and mobilized funds to the Government.

From these lands, the DLF Company had acquired 31.35 acres of land by paying about Rs.580.51 crore to the then state government. The lands were registered in the month of September 2013. The CM demanded an unconditional apology from the TDP MLA Revanth Reddy albeit indirectly for misleading the House on the issue.

The Chief Minister appealed to the Opposition members to desist from disturbing the House by making false allegations against the companies and those at the helm. If they are harassed, the investors will not show any interest in the new State, he said.

'Let us not fight, instead implement a plan of action to encourage new investors and business tycoons', KCR said. He also criticized the Congress and Telugu Desam parties for trying to disrupt the proceedings of the House for false prestige and propaganda.

The discussion on the issue postponed till Friday. Earlier, the members of treasury benches pressed for the unconditional apology from Revanth Reddy and did not allow him to speak on the issue.
