Land pooling may take long time: KE RAJAHMUNDRY: Deputy chief minister KE Krishnamurthy sprang a surprise during his visit to Rajahmundry, when he casually mentioned that he didn't want to be a member of the cabinet sub-committee for identification of the new capital city, which was promptly conveyed to chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
However, he refused to get into the details observing that it would take at least a year to get a clarity on the issue, he added. Speaking to reporters at Rajahmundry, Krishnamurthy maintained that the government will never cause inconvenience to the farmers.
The government will acquire land through land pooling system only. The cabinet sub- committee is trying to create consensus among the farming community in Vijayawada and Guntur. However, the process is bound to take time and is expected to be finished by early 2016.
It will need 30,000 acres of land to develop the capital city . The government will take the consent of farmers before taking a decision in this regard, he clarified.
The deputy chief minister also revealed that the government has reduced the time frame for land registrations and issuance of passbooks to 45 days from 60 days. 'We are trying to expedite the process,' he added.
Justifying the government's decision to seek suggestions from foreign experts for development, Krishnamurthy said that Chandigarh and Punjab governments had sought the help of experts from France.
Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupathi will be developed as mega cities of Andhra Pradesh, while the remaining cities will get the status of smart cities, he said.
The deputy chief minister also revealed that funds have been released for the first phase of crop loan waiver. The government has issued orders sanctioning a pension of `2,000 per month for part time employees of the revenue department.
