20 IT firms served notices for land misuse HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has slapped notices on 20 IT firms for violation of agreements relating to misuse of lands. Minister for Information and Technology K Taraka Rama Rao made an announcement in this regard in the Legislative Council.
IT firms, particularly in Gachibowli, Madhapur and surrounding areas, and some companies converted IT parks into housing and residential colonies which is against the spirit of the policy.
While reviewing the issue recently, the government found some IT firms had misused the lands which were allotted for a specific purpose. 'We slapped notices on 20 IT firms for violation of norms,' Rama Rao said. The government is awaiting for their reply and based on the reply, the government would proceed with further action.
If they failed to respond, the government would not hesitate to cancel land allotment and stern action would be taken against them, Rama Rao warned.
MIM MLC Altaf Hyder Rizvi said land allotted to IT companies were being converted into residential parks and sought to know what steps the government is taking against this firms. Congress MLC Rangareddy said that as per the agreement the firms should provide jobs to locals but this was not happening.
ICT policy soon
On the lines of industrial policy, the Government would bring a new ICT policy to promote IT industries. The new IT policy would be finalised within a month, Rama Rao said.
Replying to a question raised by TRS MLC P Sudhakar Reddy who wanted to know details of concessions being provided to IT companies, the Minister said as per the existing IT policy of 2010-2015, 11 incentives are being provided to promote growth of IT industries.
He said 25 per cent power subsidy, conversion of industrial power tariff, 50 to 100 per cent stamp duty refund, allotment of land, declaration of IT park status, recruitment assistance, tier II and III location anchor company incentive and reimbursement of patent filing cost are among the 11 incentives.
