Panel constituted on Metro alignment change HYDERABAD: The state government constituted an official committee to examine the curves and alignments coming in the way of Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) work and suggest ways for land acquisition. GHMC commissioner, Hyderabad police commissioner and Hyderabad/Rangareddy district collectors (depending on the jurisdiction) will be the members of the committee.
The managing director, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, will be the member-convener of the committee. HMR has to acquire land at 200 places in different parts of three proposed corridors. The committee will examine these places and suggest to the government on land acquisition.
HMR MD NVS Reddy told the government that Metro Rail alignment is passing through the centre of the existing road with a viaduct width of 10.5 metres.
To facilitate Metro Rail works and for free flow of traffic during and after execution of the project, road-widening all along the Metro Rail corridors is being taken up by GHMC/HMR as per the Master Plan. The compensation is being borne by HMR.
The MD of HMR said that there is a lot of resentment from the owners of the properties located at curves and bends as they are losing their prime property.
