Women Boxers from AP Police Shine Hyderabad, 23 March 2011: The DGP Mr. K. Aravinda Rao today felicitated victorious Women Boxers (Police Constables) who participated in various Boxing competetions and won many medals for A.P. Police.
In all, 7 female PC's and 10 male PC's participated in the 59th All India Police Games, 2011 held at Jammu from 2nd to 6th March, 2011. The result for the Women Boxing events are as follows:-
1. Women PC 2912 M. Varalaksmi of Visakhapatnam City participated in the 75 kgs weight category and won the fight against Reena Devi of J&K Police there by winning the Silver Medal.
2. Women PC 3969 Ch. Nagavani of Guntur District participated in the 69 Kgs category and won against Hissie Nag of Jharkhand Police in the quarter finals winning the Bronze Medal.
It is for the first time that Women Boxing has been taken up by the AP Police. The camp began in October, 2010 by choosing the interested participants from City Training Centre and District Training Centre and giving them intensive training. The Coach is Arjuna awardee Sri S.
