School managements seek relaxations in norms Hyderabad, June 16 (INN): Private school managements from across the Telangana State have demanded that the State Government ease the norms and conditions of their functioning and save them from extinction.
In an interaction with media on Tuesday, Telangana Recognized School Managements Association office bearers have demanded that the government to ease the taxing system so that they can be able to provide quality education to the middle class people at affordable price.
Association president S N Reddy said that there have been misconception and confusion about private schools and corporate schools. He informed that so many families have started their own schools for middle class people and all the stringent norms could not be imposed on such school managements. He demanded the State Government to categorize the private schools and tax them accordingly.
Reddy said, 'The State Government has been levying the equal tax on corporate and non-corporate private schools and it is a big hindrance in our survival. Small private school managements could not afford to bare heavy property tax and other such taxes.' The groups has given a representation to Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari asking him to give them relaxation from using the government prescribed syllabus books for 1 to 5th standard children.
The representation said that these private schools have already been teaching the government syllabus for 6 to 10th standard students. However, they are not ready to implement the government syllabus also for lower classes. At the same time, they have requested the state government to provide bank loans for installing fire extinction systems at the school premises, de-categorize the commercial status of electricity billing for the schools. Similarly, the college managements have demanded the government to revoke the property tax on private schools considering it as a business entity.
Group's working president E Shyamsundar Reddy requested that state government must grant permission to various Telugu schools to change into English medium as they have been rattling with monetary crises.
