Chiru heroine ends 30 years married life Veteran actress Rathi Agnihotri decided to parted ways with her husband. On March 14 the 54-year-old actress who ruled film industry filed a domestic abuse case against her husband of 30 years. Rathi also filed for divorce from and complained about physical and mental torture.
Now, in a number of interviews to leading publications, Agnihotri has finally opened up about the relentless torture and abuse she faced at the hands of her husband for nearly three whole decades. According to her, instances of her husband getting angry and hitting her began early in the marriage. It continued for years, she stayed in the marriage for the sake of her son.
'I am badly hurt in the last beating. I don't have strength to fight. Every time when something of this sort happened within the four walls of my home, my son was the only person I reached out. After the latest violence, I could not stay in the same house. This is the ending for my marriage, as per the advice of my son. He is the only reason I stayed in this marriage.'' She said
Rathi has acted in ten languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali. Rathi also starred in Telugu films and made 32 films in just three years.
She worked with big banners and top stars, such to South Indian cinema. She appeared in films like Dadagiri; Punnami nagu(Chiru's Maradalu role); Maayadari krishnudu. Her son Tanuj Virwani followed in her footsteps by becoming an actor.
