Jagan accused Babu for using Religious Sentiments Hyderabad, Sept 20 (INN): YSRCP President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu of exploiting religious sentiments for political gain.
He criticised Naidu for allegedly fabricating a story about adulterated ghee being used in the making of Tirumala laddus, aiming to divert public attention from the criticism surrounding his 100-day rule.
Addressing the media at his Tadepalli residence on Friday, Jagan questioned the morality of playing with the devotees' beliefs. He announced that he would write to the Supreme Court and the Prime Minister, seeking an investigation into Naidu's remarks, which he claimed were intended to tarnish the sanctity of Tirumala.
Jagan emphasised that the preparation of Tirumala laddus follows strict guidelines, with the ghee undergoing three rounds of testing before it is used. He recalled that during both TDP and YSRCP regimes, ghee tankers were rejected on several occasions due to quality concerns ' 16 times under the TDP government and 18 times under YSRCP.
He condemned Naidu's allegations as false propaganda, accusing him of creating such distractions to shift focus away from unfulfilled promises and public accountability. Jagan further criticised Naidu for attempting to damage the sanctity of the TTD temple for political mileage, despite holding the position of Chief Minister.
Jagan highlighted the significant changes his government introduced in Tirumala after coming to power, including improving the testing labs. He clarified that the state government has no involvement in decisions made by the TTD board and praised board chairman YV Subba Reddy as a devout individual, having undertaken the Ayyappa pilgrimage 45 times. He concluded by stating that Naidu's attempts to desecrate Tirumala show why his return as Chief Minister would be unfortunate for Andhra Pradesh.
