Nani's Jersey confirms April 19 release Mostly seen playing lover boy roles so far in out-and-out commercial films, actor Nani will be seen as 36-year-old chasing a cricketing dream in Gautam Tinannuri's Jersey, which has been confirmed to hit the screens on April 19.
In what could be described as Nani's maiden attempt outside his comfort zone, Nani will be seen playing a cricketer in this coming-of-age sports drama.
Talking about the project, Gautam had said in an interview: 'It's a story about a late bloomer who realizes his talent at a certain age and pursues his dream to join Indian cricket team. It's a period sports drama and the story takes place between 1986 and 1996.' Nani plays a character called Arjun in the film and Gowtam described the film as a 'success story of a failure'.
The film, which has music by Anirudh Ravichander, also stars Shraddha Srinath and this would be her Telugu debut.
Not long ago, rumours made the rounds that the film could be based on a real-life character. Gowtam clarified that the story is not based on any real character.
Nani, who plays a batsman in the film, had said in one of his interviews last year that Jersey will be one of the most prestigious projects of his career.
