16-year-old girl hacked to death by stalker

KURNOOL: A lovelorn youngster hacked to death a girl after she rejected his repeated pleas to marry him in an interior village in Kurnool district on Sunday. The youngster attacked the girl with an axe and injured her on her head and neck which led to her death.

The youngster was allegedly enraged over the girl taking up the matter with his parents who reprimanded him and asked him to mend his ways. The incident took place in Guntakandala village in Gadivemula mandal this afternoon.

The victim, M Sivamma (16), was as a labourer working under the National Rural Employee Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) in the village. The accused, Rajasekhar Goud, also hails from the same village and earlier used to work as a hamali.

Later, he too began working as a labourer in works taken up under NREGS and it was during that time he came in contact with Sivamma. But after sometime, Rajasekhar stopped attending work after getting addicted to drinking and other vices.

'Rajasekhar expressed his love to Sivamma and planned to marry her but the girl rejected the proposal. As Rajasekhar started to pester the girl and harass her, she complained the matter to her parents a year ago,'' police said.

Sivamma's parents took up the matter with Rajasekhar's family and the families even clashed over the issue. Disturbed by their son's behaviour, Rajasekhar's family members reprimanded him and asked him to mend his ways. This enraged Rajasekhar who waited for an opportunity to take revenge on the girl.

'On Sunday, when Sivamma was taking lunch to her parents, who were working in the fields, Rajasekhar waylaid and attacked the girl with an axe. As Sivamma fell on the ground, Rajasekhar assaulted her on the neck, head and other parts of the body,' police and eye witnesses said.

Sivamma's parents, who noticed the attack, rushed to the spot but could not rescue her. She died instantly. Rajasekhar fled from the village and three special police teams have been formed to nab him, Atamakur CI Babu Prasad said. A case was registered and investigation is on.
