Court orders CM Revanth to appear in vote-for-note Case Hyderabad, Sept 24 (INN): The Namapally Court in Hyderabad has directed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to appear before the court in connection with the vote-for-note case.
When the hearing on this case took place on Tuesday, key accused Mathaiah and other defendants were absent. The judge expressed strong displeasure over their absence. Following this, the court instructed Revanth Reddy and the other accused to attend the next hearing scheduled for 16th October.
The case dates back to 2014, soon after the formation of Telangana, when Revanth Reddy, then a member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and now the Chief Minister, allegedly attempted to bribe nominated MLA Stephenson, who was affiliated with the BRS party, to secure a vote in the Legislative Council elections.
Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught Revanth Reddy red-handed in a sting operation. Revanth Reddy had to spend several days in jail as a result. The case is currently being heard in the Namapally Court.
