BJP clarifies on Akhand Bharat gifted to Lokesh Hyderabad, July 12 (INN): A political row erupted after Andhra Pradesh BJP president P.V.N. Madhav gifted a controversial Akhand Bharat map to TDP leader and Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh, in which Telangana was omitted and a unified Andhra Pradesh was depicted. The incident triggered sharp reactions on social media, with users accusing the BJP of insulting Telangana and questioning whether the exclusion was deliberate.
Following the backlash, Madhav met Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy in Hyderabad and presented a corrected version of the map that included Telangana. The Telangana BJP unit released a series of tweets defending the gesture, stating that questioning the legacy of Akhand Bharat was akin to "making a mountain out of a molehill." The party described the map as a symbol of Indian civilisation, unity, and reverence for Telangana.
Responding to the controversy, Madhav reiterated his commitment to Telugu unity, stating that attempts to stir regional divisions would not succeed. "I am a proud nationalist and a Telugu who has always worked for the culture, dignity, and language of both Telugu states," he said. He criticised those who "bow before the legacy of the Nizam and support Razakars", asserting that they would never understand Telangana's true spirit of nationalism, equality, and cultural greatness.
Madhav affirmed that his love and respect for Telangana were unwavering and beyond question.
