City to get India's first FOB with escalators from Aug 16 Hyderabad, Aug 14 (INN): Pedestrians at busy Road No 2, Banjara Hills, particularly visitors to the LV Prasad Eye Institute, can now heave a sigh of relief if they wish to cross the busy road, with the Foot Over Bridge being ready and awaiting inauguration.
The Foot Over Bridge has been constructed by a private concern Prakash Arts under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode on BOT basis at their own cost allotted in Open-bid - auction under the ‘Fund Your City’ programme. The FOB will be formally inaugurated by Governnor ESL Narasimhan on August 16 at 10 am.
The FOB has been built keeping the needs of Senior citizens, Physically impaired and Handicapped persons in mind, with elevators and escalators, upgraded at a cost of Rs 3 crore.
The Foot Over Bridge is installed with outdoor elevators and escalators, and is the first of its kind in India. The elevators and escalators are made from stainless steel with latest technology. It is equipped with automatic door operation electrical mechanical lock, automotive switching system, suspension ropes with all safety precautions, which is water proof, weather proof and function, 24 hours uninterruptedly.
The government has made the building company responsible for maintaining and operating the FOB with 24 hours security, providing operators, cleaning & maintenance of staff in two shifts.
The GHMC will become the owners of the FOB after completion of the BOT period.
