NATS conducted free medical camp in NY New York, Aug 26: North America Telugu Society (NATS) in association with Telugu Literary and Cultural Association (TLCA) of New York conducted a free medical and health check up camp in New York. The camp was conducted at the Sai Baba temple in Flushing, New York on the 22nd, informed Dr.Madhu Korrapati from NATS in a press-release.
Doctors who participated in the free health camp gave advise to about 228 patients. Most of the patients had no health insurance. Patients had free cholesterol check up and free blood sugar check up to diagnose diabetes. All the patients had body fat estimation done and were given dietary counselling. Physical examination was conducted and medications were reviewed by the physicians.
A bone marrow drive was initiated by Dr. Sudha Kavuri in association with SAMAR was a huge success, Dr. Korrapati said.
Sai Baba temple administration lead by Sid Kamath, Dr.Sudharkar and Lekha Reddy provided immense help including arrangements for patients and food for volunteers and physicians.
Medical camp was conducted under the leadership of Dr.Madhu Korrapati in association with Shiva Muthiki, Vikram Jangam of TLCA and Murthy Gulivindala of NATS. Mohan Krishna Mannava provided all the voluntary help with NATS active members and TLCA excecutive committee. Several students volunteered their time for the community service and recieved certificate of appreciation from Ravi Madala and Shiva Muthiki.
The physicians that volunteered their time in the Medical camp were: Dr.Ainapudi Ravi, Dr.Bhumi Sarat, Dr.Gaddam Dasaratharam Reddy, Dr. Kalepu Mallik, Dr.Kanumilli Janaki, Dr. Kavuri Sudha, Dr. Korrapati Madhu, Dr. Korrapati Vineet, Dr. Maddineni Durga, Dr. Mandava Nageswararao, Dr. Matta Yesu Kumar, Dr. Mettu Lekha Reddy, Dr. Mettu Sudhakar Reddy, Dr. Oruganti Vandhana, Dr. Pinnamaneni Sarat and Dr. Voleti Radha.
Senior members of the community Anumolu Rao, Pailla Malla Reddy, Venkatesh Mutyala, Thapi Dharmarao, Challapalli Satya, Kudaravalli Babu, Chintakunta Ashok, Voleti Rao, Raj Allada, Ramesh Nutalapati, Ramesh Gandhamaneni graced the occassion and actively helped at the venue.
The next help camp is planned for first week of December at the same venue, Dr. Korrapati said.
