ABVP activists lathi-charged Hyderabad, Aug 31 (INN): Police rained lathis on Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists on Tuesday as they tried to gherao the Karimnagar and Adilabad district Collectorates, leading to a tense situation for some time.
The ABVP activists were staging a protest, demanding that the government take urgent measures to solve the various problems plaguing the students. The activists demanded that the state government provide Mess facilities to STs, SCs and BCs students.
Trouble began when the agitating students tried to barge inside the Collectorates' gates while the policemen blockaded this attempt. The unrelenting students pressed ahead with their attempt, leading to an argument building up. The ABVP activists continued to try and surge inside the Collectorates premises, forcing the police to use their batons.
