Three fake policemen nabbed for extortion Hyderabad, Sept 6 (INN): Jubilee Hills police on Wednesday arrested three persons for posing as police men and threatening sand transport lorry drivers during night times by brandishing toy air pistol in various police station limits of Hyderabad city and also in Cyberabad limits. According to Sub-Inspector K Nageswara Rao, Shaik Wajeed, Mohd Feroz and Mohd Samiuddin used to move on the roads carrying toy pistol and target the sand lorries and extort money and cellphones from them by posing as police personnel.
On the intervening night of September 1 and 2, at 11:30 PM the accused stopped a sand lorry near Green Mosque, Road No 2, Banjara Hills and extorted Rs 25,000 and a cellphone from the occupants. Later while they were moving in Jubilee Hills police station limits, they chanced upon a sand lorry standing near Peddamma temple and extorted an amount of Rs 4,000 and a cellphone from him and fled.
The accused were involved in similar offences in the limits of Shivrampally, Afzalgunj and Banjara Hills police stations. Police suspect that a few more cases which were committed by these accused went unreported in some of the police stations.
They were nabbed late on September 5, during routine vehicle checks by the Jubilee Hills police near Road No 45 when they tried to flee. Police chased and caught them and found toy pistol in their possession. They confessed to the crimes on being interrogated. The accused are being produced before a Court for judicial remand.
