Agri officer held for organised graft Hyderabad, Sept 14(INN): Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths on Tuesday arrested Senior Assistant, Fertilizer Section, Commissioner & Director of Agriculture D Shailaja for accepting bribe in lieu of issuing trade licenses to fertilizer dealers. According to the ACB, Shailaja accepted gratification from the dealers of fertilizers for processing of renewal or issue of fresh wholesale trade licenses of Andhra area. She got the bribe money remitted to her Savings account with the State Bank of Hyderabad, Gunfoundry.
The ACB said that Shailaja used to share her ill-gotten gains with her office Superintendent, Fertilizer Section, Ravi Kumar Singh for processing the renewal of their licenses during the period from January 1 to August 23 this year. The Bureau registered a case of criminal misconduct against the two officials on Monday and conducted searches at their office premises and their residences and seized several records.
The investigation prima facie established that they have collected illegal gratification to the extent of at least Rs 7,18,725 which was credited into her SB Account No 52117541396 at SBH, Gunfoundry Branch, Hyderabad. The tainted officials were arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases, Hyderabad.
