Muslim leaders meet CM, seek safeguards Hyderabad, Sep 15 (INN): A delegation under the banner of United Muslim Forum met Chief Minister K Rosaiah at the Camp Office on Wednesday evening and sought protection from communal parties for Muslims lives and properties. Talking to INN, former chairman, Urdu Academy Raheemuddin Ansari, who was part of the delegation, said that the memorandum urged Mr Rosaiah to take immediate and urgent steps to safeguard the lives and properties of Muslims from communal outfits. The memorandum stated that Muslims in the state feared that three major events were about to occur which could possibly see an outbreak of communal violence.
Mr Ansari said that the so-called Telangana Liberation Day is falling on a Friday and communal outfits could create disturbance during the prayers. He added that soon after this, the Ganesh Visarjan and the verdict on the title deed of the Babri Masjid were to follow. The delegation also urged Mr Rosaiah to order an Judicial inquiry into the recent flare-up of communal violence which was sparked off by an incident at Moosa Bowli in the Old City. The delegation also demanded that stringent security check be conducted of the lorries being deployed to carry the Ganesh idols for immersion for weapons.
The Chief Minister gave the delegation a patient hearing and assured them of taking appropriate action. Mr Rosaiah told the delegation that a review meeting will be conducted with higher police officials on the security issue on Thursday. The delegation was lead by religious scholars United Muslim Forum convenor Maulana Abdul Raheem Quereshi, Maulana Akber Nizamuddin, Maulana Syed Qubool Pasha Shuttari and MIM floor leader Mr Akber Owasi, along with his party Legislators.
