Gandhi doctors down with food contamination Hyderabad, Sept 19 (INN): Around 50 medical staff of the Gandhi Hospital, including doctors, professors and assistant professors were on Sunday undergoing treatment at the hospital after eating contaminated sandwiches. According to sources, the staff from the Gandhi Hospital and Medical College had attended a seminar at the hospital itself on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning, all those who attended the seminar and had consumed the sandwiches developed nausea and started vomiting.
According to hospital sources, the sandwiches were supplied by a bakery in Padma Rao Nagar in Secunderabad. On receiving information, the Health and Sanitation department of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation collected samples of the foodstuff in the bakery. The GHMC authorities confirmed that the medical staff was affected by the contaminated food supplied by the bakery. Angry relatives also protested in front of the bakery over the incident. A junior doctor, Swapna, was the most severely affect by the contaminated food. She is stated to be out of danger.
