Husbands alcoholism drives woman to suicide Hyderabad, Sept 23 (INN): Unable to bear dowry harassment and regular beatings from her husband a woman committed suicide under Chandanagar police station. According to police, victim E Anita (24) was married to Babu in 2004. They were blessed with two sons and were residents of Gangaram village in Chandanagar. After six months of her marriage her husband got addicted to alcohol. It is alleged that he used to harass her after becoming intoxicated.
On September 18, Babu got angry when his son broke the television remote. He started to trash the boy with a stick on which his wife objected. The drunk and infuriated man turned his ire on his wife and beat her up also. Unable to bear more of the atrocity and her husbands drinking habit, Anita poured kerosene and lit herself.
She was rushed to hospital by her neighbours where she died late on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment. Police registered a case under section 498A against Babu and took up further investigations.
