Four gates of Himayath Sagar lifted Hyderabad, Sept 24 (INN): Irrigation officials in charge of Himayath Sagar on Friday lifted four flood gates to discharge after the drinking water reservoir crossed the capacity mark. The flood gates were lifted after the nine years as the flood water reached the danger mark. Out of 17 gates, the officials lifted four to discharge 4,000 cusecs of water. Against the water storage capacity of 1785, the water touched 1764 level.
As the city receiving heavy rains for the past few days, the Himayath Sagar is receiving massive flow of waters, the officials said. The officials alerted the people living downstream in low-lying areas to relocate themselves as waters could submerge their areas.
