ICICI Bank employee kidnapped by ex-fiance Adilabad, Sept 28 (INN): An ICICI Bank employee was kidnapped, allegedly by her former fiance, at Mandamarri in the district, late on Monday. According to Sub Inspector Venkat, victim Swarnalatha (23) was working as a cashier in ICICI bank in Ramgundam branch. Swarnalatha left for work on Monday as usual and was returning home when the kidnappers struck. The incident took place at Palachettu. Four unidentified persons pushed her into an Indica car and drove away. The mother of the victim Rajeshwari lodged a complaint, following which the police formed four special teams. These teams were dispatched to Warangal, Khammam, Kagaznagar and Ballarshah.
Police in their investigation came to know that Swarnalatha was engaged to one Venu of Hanumakonda. She broke off the engagement due to the Venus waywardness. According to Mr Venkat, Venu was harassing Swarnalatha and her family after the engagement was called off. He is also believed to have threatened the family with dire consequences. Mr Venkat added that police believe that Venu is the mastermind behind the kidnap and the hostage is being shifted regularly to avoid being caught. The police also said that scrolling on television channels is alerting the kidnappers. Mr Venkat expressed confidence that the kidnappers would be nabbed soon. A case under section 366 IPC has been registered.
