Stepmother strangles girl Mahabubnagar, Oct 1 (INN): A four-year-old girl was strangled by her step mother on Friday morning, allegedly to prevent the child from getting a share of the property at Bandla Palli, Balanagar mandal in Mahabubnagar. According to Inspector Srinivas Reddy, the victim has been identified as Ankita, daughter of Mangamma. Mangamma and Ramulamma were the wives of one Basabba. Mangamma was blessed with one girl while Ramulamma was had four children. Following a dispute of sharing of Basabbas property, the village elders had intervened and ordered the distribution of the land equally to the children of both the women.
An argument between the two women of this issue took place on Thursday night before they went to sleep. On Friday morning when Mangamma went for labour work, Ramulamma strangled Ankita, so that her children could get the entire property. Police reached the spot on getting information and shifted the victim to hospital for autopsy. A case has been registered under section 302 IPC and took up further investigations.
