Dispute between GHMC, SCR over
Hyderabad, Oct 4 (INN): Commuters between Tarnaka and Sangeet Theatre Junction can now heave a sigh of relief and hope for smooth flow of traffic after the protracted dispute between the South Central Railways and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation was finally brought to an end by the Arbitration Committee. According to GHMC Chief Public Relations Officer, the Arbitration Committee, consisting of its Chairman Justice M Jagannadha Rao, and Justices SS Khadri and Jagadeeswar Reddy issued Proceedings on the dispute over handing over of the SCR properties to the GHMC between Tarnaka and Sangeeth Theatre, thus settling the matter. The Committee had met on Sunday at ICADR premises.
The Committee fixed the value of the five properties of Railways which are located between Tarnaka and Sangeeth Theatre at Rs 1.95 crore. The SCR had earlier demanded Rs five crore from the GHMC for the properties, but the Corporation had offered Rs 1.95 crore as structural compensation, saying that the buildings were old and dilapidated.
The Proceedings were issued after both sides agreed to the settlement, thus clearing the road block to the road-widening. The Committee had met several times previously and heard arguments of both sides. On receipt of this amount from GHMC, the Railways would hand over the properties to the Municipal body. And the GHMC is also ready to pay the amount to pave the way for early settlement of the dispute.
