Remorseful nurse kills self Adilabad, Oct 19 (INN): A guilt-stricken 19-year-old nurse killed herself after feeling remorseful at allegedly bringing shame to her family honour under Mandamarri police station limits late on Monday night. According to police, Swapna took the extreme step after she felt remorseful that her actions of going away from home to spend three days with the man she loved had brought shame to her family.
Swapna had fallen in love with a man she had met in Hyderabad during the days as a nursing student six months earlier. After completing her education, Swapna had returned home. A fortnight ago, she left home to meet her beloved without informing her parents. When she returned three days later, she discovered the repercussions of her action and the intense societal pressure her parents were feeling.
Late on Monday night, Swapna wrote a suicide note which stated that she was ashamed over her action which had shamed her family and was resorting to suicide. She also mentioned that her parents were being blamed for her actions. She ended her life by hanging from a ceiling fan using her dupatta. Police reached the spot on getting information and a case has been registered after sending the body to autopsy.
