Lorry damages railway bridge, rail traffic affected Hyderabad, Oct 20 (INN): A specially designed lorry loaded with over-dimensional consignment damaged the Railway Girder Bridge and displaced the steel Girder while passing through the Road under Bridge which is adjacent to Malakpet Railway Station early Wednesday. The lorry was proceeding from Chaderghat towards Nalgonda Cross Roads. The lorry driver was arrested by the police authorities.
As a result of this negligence on the part of lorry driver, train services were disrupted for more than 8 hours in the section, causing much inconvenience to the rail users, since four MMTS services were cancelled, seven MMTS services were partially cancelled and several Mail and Express trains got delayed.
Reacting to the incident, SCR officials said that, 'This kind of negligent driving by road vehicle drivers causing damage to Railway property and endangering public safety entails serious action by Road Transport and Traffic Police officials as per law.'
