Three of family killed as roof caves in Mahabubnagar, Oct 21 (INN): Three members of a family were killed when the roof of their residence collapsed due to the incessant rain at Gummadam, Pebbair mandal in Mahabubnagar district. According to Sub-Inspector Balichowkhan, the victims were identified as Pullaiah(65), head of the family, his wife Narasamma and their son Narayana (35). Narayanas wife Padma survived the collapse since she had gone to visit her parents in Mahabalipuram village, Panagal mandal.
Police believe that the incessant rains had weakened the pillars of their house, built in 1983. The inmates had propped up the roof with wooden poles to stop it from caving in. Police believe that the temporary supports gave away on Thursday. Police reached the spot on getting information and shifted the victims to hospital for autopsy after removing the debris. A case has been registered.
