Patient approaches court after hospital botches surgery Hyderabad, Oct 26 (INN): The Nampally Consumer Court on Tuesday admitted a petition by the husband of a cancer patient against a corporate hospital for removing the patients unaffected body parts. The complaint, by one Umesh Chandra Shrivastav on behalf of his wife Lakshmikanta Srivastav, stated that she had got admitted to the Wockhardt Kamineni Hospital, King Koti for a surgery.
Mr Shrivastav stated that he was told by the hospital that cancer had affected wifes abdomen. He had agreed to get an operation on her, in order to save her life. Accordingly, the doctors at the hospital removed the patients urethra and fallopian tubes, Mr Shrivastav stated. The couple went to another hospital for checkup after noticing no improvement in Mrs Shrivastavs health, even after two months, Mr Shrivastav revealed. The fresh tests revealed that the cancer had spread to the patients lungs and liver.
