Principal's scolding drives girl to kill self Nalgonda, Oct 31 (INN): Angry parents and relatives of a tenth standard girl protested in front of her school after her body was found in a reservoir under Devarakonda police station limits on Sunday. According to Inspector Sardar Singh, the parents tried to bury the body of Samata (16) which was retrieved from the Akkampally reservoir after two days. Samata had been missing since the past two days, after the principal of Sri Chaitanya School in Devarakonda scolded her for failing to pay the fees. She had called her parents from a public telephone booth, saying that she was ashamed because of the scolding.
According to the statement by Samata's father Vishnu, she took the extreme step after principal Pulijala Sujata scolded her in front of other students for failing to pay the school fee of Rs 1,500 due from her, on October 29. Samata had been missing after making that telephone call and efforts by her family and school authorities to trace her had been in vain. Vishnu had lodged a complaint against the principal on Saturday. Her body was found in the waters of the Akkampally reservoirs on Sunday.
The police shifted Samata's body to hospital for autopsy, after convincing the protesting relatives that it was not possible for them to bury her body in front of the school. A case has been registered under section 306 IPC against the principal. Further investigations are on.
