Rs 22.9 lakh snatched from jeweler in broad daylight Hyderabad, Nov 3 (INN): Unidentified persons have looted Rs 22.9 lakh from a person by throwing chili powder in his eyes at in broad daylight at Madina Circle under Charminar Police Station limits on Wednesday. According to Inspector Prasad Rao, one Jaganath Mishra (21) hailing from Bidar in Karnataka, had come to Hyderabad for purchasing gold for reselling it in his jewellery shop in Bidar. Mr Prasad Rao revealed that Jaganath Mishra was travelling in an auto-rickshaw while on his way to a jewellers shop at Gulzar Houz when two unidentified motorcycle-borne persons threw chilli powder into his eyes and snatched the bag containing Rs 22.9 lakh.
The thieves managed to get away from the spot before anyone could react and realise what had just happened. Even the traffic police personnel present on the spot were taken unaware by the turn of events. Mishra made his way to the Charminar police station and lodged a complaint in this connection. Additional Commissioner of Police Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said that three special teams have been formed to nab the motor-borne thieves. Any hopes that the Traffic Surveillance cameras at the Madina circle, where the robbery took place, would help in tracing the offenders were dashed when the images from them were too hazy to identify the offenders.
