No free entry in Zoo on Childrens Day Hyderabad, Nov 12 (INN): In a major disappointment for the numerous children who plan to visit the Nehru Zoological park on November 14, also observed as Childrens Day, the earlier practice of free entry has been done away. The children will henceforth be charged the regular entry fee. According to the Zoo Curator, the decision to discontinue the earlier practice of allowing in children below 12 years on November 14, the occasion of Childrens Day, the birthday of the first prime minister of Independent India, without the entry fee has been taken to avoid the huge rush witnessed in the past.
The curator stated that the past practice has resulted in uncontrollable rush, making it difficult to maintain order. The entry fee for children below 12 years is Rs 10 and adults pay Rs 15. Still cameras are allowed inside the premises on payment of Rs 25, while video cameras are charged Rs 40. The zoo has hiked the tickets of allowing cars inside to a whopping Rs 500 per vehicle in order to desist vehicle owners from taking their vehicles inside, thereby bringing down vehicular pollution.
