SI posts aspirant demand cancellation of test, protest Hyderabad, Nov 15 (INN): Demanding a halt on the proposed recruitment of 1,100 sub-inspector of police, 193 Reserve SIs including 24 for the AP Special Police, aspirants owing affiliations to three Joint Action committees from various universities in the Telangana region on Monday picketed the Director General of Police office. Protesting against the governments move to conduct written examination for sub-inspector posts on December 18 and 19, the aspirants demanded that the government cancel the proposed test until it makes its stand clear on free zone issue. Raising slogans against DGP, the aspirants tried to barge into his office. However, the police foiled their attempts and arrested the activists and shifted them to Nampally police station.
The activists stated the SIs recruitment drive would hit the chances of candidates hailing from Telangana region and they would lose 400 posts to aspirants from Seemandhra region. Earlier, the police aspirants observed a hunger strike on Osmania University campus under the aegis of Joint Action committee demanding cancellation of proposed test. Sensing trouble, additional police forces have been deployed in the OU campus to maintain law and order.
However, DIG Swathi Lakra on Monday stated the police department would conduct the test as per schedule and asked the candidates collect their hall tickets between November 29 and December 4. She asked the candidates hailing from Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medak, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and Nizamabad district to collect their hall tickets from Hyderabad DIG office. The written test would be conducted for VI zone candidates at BHEL Township on December 18 and 19, she added.
