Encroachments at Gowlipura abattoir: CPM protest Hyderabad, Nov 22 (INN): Activists of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a protest at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation old city office, Sardar Mahal alleging inaction in safeguarding the property in Gowlipura abattoir.
The protestors stated that despite the Andhra Pradesh High Court setting aside the mutation of the property by former Hyderabad Collector Naveen Mittal, the lethargic attitude of the officials has resulted in some alleged land grabbers grabbing part of the 4.14 acre of land of the abattoir.
The land, in Survey No 242, was originally shown as measuring 8 acres, out of which 4.14 acre was set aside for the abattoir and the remaining is a graveyard in the Revenue records. The High Court had agreed with the Revenue record and had set aside the mutation on the orders of the former Collector.
Talking to media persons, CPM city secretary M Srinivas said that Naveen Mittal, before being transferred from his post, had mutated land existing 4.14 acre to some locals. He said that these locals, in concurrence with some persons alleged to be land grabbers, have encroached the land.
Mr Srinivas alleged that the GHMC employees in the Town Planning wing, were sitting idle despite complaints that the land was being encroached. The protestors submitted a memorandum to the Zonal Joint Commissioner Suresh Rao. He assured them that he would take appropriate action.
