AP will not be divided: Lagadapati in NJ
Edison, NJ: 'There is absolutely no chance for the state of Andhra Pradesh to be divided' Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal said at the Andhra Pradesh formation day celebrations held in New Jersey. He expressed confidence that the Srikrishna Committee will dispel all the myths of regional discrimination being put forward by the separatists.
Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Indians Forum has grandly celebrated the state formation day at the Royal Albert Palace in Fords, New Jersey. Several prominent leaders of Andhra Pradesh, including Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, Narasaraopet (Guntur Dt.) MP Modugula Venugopala Reddy, Anakapalli MLA, (Vizg Dt.) Ganta Srinivasarao, Uravakonda MLA, (Anantapur Dt.) Payyavula Keshav, Sarvepalli Ex MLA, (Nellore Dt.) Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Hyderabad Ex-Mayor Theegala Krishna Reddy, Rayachoti MLA, (Kadapa Dt.) Gadikota Srikanth Reddy, Ex-MLA Adusumalli Jayaprakash attended the program.
Speaking at the event Lagadapati assured that there is absolutely no chance for the state of Andhra Pradesh to be divided. Payyavula Keshav assured attendees that the issue of separatism is being magnified by the media out of proportion. He downplayed the threats of violence by the separatists and assured that the city of Hyderabad continues to be a safe place for residents and visitors. He urged all NRIs to come to Hyderabad with children and that their safety is assured.
The event was followed by a question and answer session. Non-resident Indians have posed difficult questions and put the leaders under a spotlight. Attendees have grilled the leaders if the current movement was groomed by their ilk. Another attendee asked why the government is not taking action against the separatist leaders who are openly making threats of violence. Another attendee asked the leaders about what they are doing to alleviate the fears of residents of Hyderabad that are being branded as settlers.
Students from the Siddhendra Kuchipudi Art Academy have enthralled the audience with their performance of Telugu Vaibhavam. Maestro Ghazal Srinivas has enthralled the audience with his patriotic recital of Telugu Ghazal. Mr. Rajeev Nedunuri mesmerized the audience with the AP patriotic songs like maa-janma bhoomi etc.
AP NRI Chairman Sailaja Adluru thanked everyone for the success of the event. She thanked the leaders for their contribution to the cause of Samaikyandhra and expressed her gratitude to the residents of New York and New Jersey who came in such large numbers.
