Mayor Kartika Reddy gets warm reception in Chicago Hyderabad, Nov 24 (INN): The American Telugu Association (ATA) and Telugu Association of Greater Chicago (TAGC) have felicitated Hyderabad Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy on her maiden visit to United States. According to an official statement from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, a large group of people gathered in the local Cool Mirchi restaurant in Schaumburg, IL on Sunday November 21 to receive the Mayor and her husband Banda Chandra Reddy. Members of the Telugu NRI community congratulated the Ms Karthika Reddy on her being the first female Mayor of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. TAGC President Amarendra Nettem welcomed the Mayor to the windy city.
Several members of the community which included Founding members of ATA, B Madhava Reddy, GLN Reddy and Sunitha Reddy, ATA Trustee Karunakar Madhavaram, ATA board member Satyanarayana Reddy, ATA office coordinator Narendar Chemarla and ATA Regional coordinator Kalyan Reddy along with TAGC Executive Committee members include Sundar Dittakavi, Ramesh Garapaty, Kondapalli Satyanarana Reddy and other prominent Telugu community members from Chicago area joined the event.
Mayor Karthika Reddy thanked the attendees for a wonderful reception and urged all the community to stay united. Several women speakers said they take inspiration from what the mayor has accomplished by being the first female elected to the office. Later the group celebrated Mr Chandra Reddy's birthday.
