Two pilgrims killed in road mishap at Aswaraopet Khammam, Nov 25 (INN): A family from Malkajigiri which is on piligramage to Annavaram in East Godavari district involved in a mishap and lost two precious lives. Two of the seven family members were killed and five others suffered serious injuries in a road accident which occurred at Aswaraopet in Khammam district on Thursday. According to Sub-Inspector Kishen, the mishap occurred when a SUV, in which seven pilgrims were travelling towards Annavaram, hit a roadside tree after the driver lost control over the speeding vehicle.
Police said that Dandi Rajini died on spot while her husband who was driving the car succumbed on his way to hospital for treatment. The other five passengers, J Hanumanth Rayudu, his wife Indra, K Shirisha, K Pushpa and M Sandhya were left with serious injuries. The victims were rushed to hospital with the help of 108 ambulances. According to Mr Kishen, the pilgrims hailed from Malkajgiri in Hyderabad. A case has been registered under section 304-A IPC and further investigations are on.
