Forest officer burnt alive by smugglers Medak, Nov 26 (INN): In a shocking incident, unidentified criminals late on Thursday burnt alive a beat officer of the Sanjeevraopet forest, Narayankhed Mandal in Medak district late on Thursday night. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police D Mogili, Forest beat officer Shivalal (52) was missing since Thursday night, after leaving on his beat duty from Pocharam village. His colleagues got worried after he did not return on the scheduled time.
The police soon launched a manhunt for the missing beat officer but their efforts to trace him on Thursday night went in vain. The searches resumed on Friday. Mr Mogili revealed that the search party were shocked to find the beat officer's body burnt, along with his motorcycle. Preliminary investigations revealed that the criminals may have overpowered Mr Shivalal and used the petrol in his motorcycle to set him on fire.
Mr Shivalal was known to be a honest and upright officer and Mr Mogili said that he may have come across smugglers making off with valuable forest wealth. The DSP told INN that the forest beat officer could have accosted the criminals on his own. CI Narayankhed is investigating the case under Mr Mogili's supervision. Clues team has been pressed into service after the registration of a case under relevant sections.
