Housewife dies in LPG cylinder explosion Hyderabad, Nov 27 (INN): A housewife was killed and eight members of her family suffered serious injuries when an LGP cylinder exploded at their residence in Venkateswara Nagar in Kukatpally on Saturday. According to Sub-Inspector Rajaiah, R Kusuma (35) had lit incense sticks (joss sticks) from the gas stove for performing puja on Friday night. She had forgotten to turn off the LPG supply. Mr Rajaiah revealed that the gas had leaked in the house during the night.
Early on Saturday morning when Kusuma switched on the light, the gas cylinder exploded. As a result she and eight members of her family, Raju (55), twins Priya and Sreeya (6), Padma (46), Satya Murthy (50), Sandhya (16), Padmavathi (45) and Sudharshan (35) received serious injuries. All the nine were rushed to nearest hospital for treatment where Kusuma succumbed while the others are undergoing treatment. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
Chain snatchers nabbed
Hyderabad, Nov 27 (INN): Police in two separate cases, nabbed three notorious thieves from Afzal Sagar and unearthed property of 13.8 tolas of gold from their possession. According to Asif Nagar police, Umakiran Kambelay (40) and Kambelay Kavita (35), were taken into custody by policemen while they were snatching chain from the passengers at Mehdipatnam bus stop. About 11tolas of gold ornaments were recovered from them.
In another incident, Shaik Khaisar (19), a motorcycle mechanic was caught by policemen while he was moving under suspicious circumstances under Langerhouz police station limits. During interrogation, Khaisar confessed that he turned himself as salesmen of washing powder and robbed a chain weighing about 2.8 tolas of gold. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
Labourer falls from building, dies
Hyderabad, Nov 27 (INN): A labour died in hospital while undergoing treatment for the injuries he had sustained in an accidental fall from an under-construction building under Alwal police station limits late on Friday night. According to Sub-Inspector Praveen Kumar, Manju (22), Son of Mallesh was a resident of Thukunta in Alwal.
On Wednesday, he had fallen down from first floor of an under-construction building, in which he suffered grievous injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed late on Friday night. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
Junior assistant of Horticulture in ACB net
Hyderabad, Nov 27 (INN): Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths on Saturday caught red-handed Junior Assistant of Horticulture Department, when she demanded and accepted bribe of Rs 25,000 from a person. According to ACB officials, accused officer was identified as Tadakamalla Vijayalaxmi (52), was caught red-handed, when she demanded and accepted Rs 25,000 as bribe for issuing a cheque of Rs 2,79,348 pertaining to the terminal benefits of a person, who is the paternal uncle and legal guardian of the minor son of the deceased.
Searches are being conducted at the residence of AP at Nagole. Ms Tadakamalla Vijayalaxmi, is being arrested and will be produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Hyderabad. Case is under investigations.
