Nod for Haj House at RGIA
Hyderabad, Dec 4 (INN): The state government has given the go ahead for the construction of a Haj House building at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad for the convenience of the Haj pilgrims. The Haj Committee of India will give Rs two crore as grant for the construction of a Haj House building, provided the government sets aside 4 acres of land for the purpose. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is expected to lay the foundation stone for the project shortly. Speaking to media persons at the Secretariat on Saturday, Minister for Minority Welfare and Wakf Syed Mohammed Ahmedullah said that the State Haj Committee was willing to give Rs 2 crore for the project.
The Minister had earlier received 340 Hajis, the first batch of Haj pilgrims, who were returning from Jeddah, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. In all, 7564 Hajis had been to the Mecca for a 45-day stay to perform 'Haj'.
Mr Ahmedullah added that the Chief Minister is expected to receive the next batch of Hajis at the Airport. Haj Committee of India Vice-Chairman A Aboobucker, AP State Haj Committee Chairman Syed Khaleeluddin Ahmed, and Saudi Airlines Branch Manager M Iftekhar Ahmed were also present. Later, Mr Aboobucker and Mr Khaleeluddin Ahmed had met the Chief Minister where they discussed the proposal of construction of a Haj House at the RG International Airport.
