High Court to be a high security zone
Hyderabad, Dec 7 (INN): Security will be enhanced in the premises and on the two roads adjoining the Andhra Pradesh High Court since the area has been declared a High Security Zone. Taking note the events during the month of September when protests by lawyers over the appointment of Telanganaites to posts in the Judiciary, Justice VVS Rao directed the Registrar of the Bar Council to initiate action against protesting advocates.
Justice Rao also stated that the Court premises is a high security zone and ordered the posting of at least six constables each, in front of the 34 Court Halls. He added that the number of the constables could be increased if needed. The Judge also ruled that if necessary, a police officer, to the rank of a Deputy Commissioner of Police should be entrusted to supervise the security arrangements.
The Court also ruled that the parking space on the premises should be only allowed to be used by Judges. All vehicles belonging to anyone else should be stopped at the gates. For lawyers above sixty who find it difficult to walk to the Court Halls, an electric vehicle should be provided which would ferry them to the Courts.
Ruling that the two roads adjoining the High Court premises should also be treated as high security zone, the Court ruled that no vehicles should be allowed to park on these stretches of land. Justice Rao also ruled that all advocates should carry their identity cards and nobody should be allowed to enter without the card. The Court also banned any slogan shouting on its premises.
