Traffic police to get stricter with e-Challan non-payers Hyderabad, Dec 8 (INN): Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) CV Anand on Wednesday said that his department will no longer remain silent while habitual traffic rule violators make a mockery of the E-Challan system. Mr Anand revealed that some of the violators have as many as over a hundred e-Challans pending against them but they were in no hurry to pay the fines.
Naming some of the most outrageous offenders who have disregarded the E-Challans, Mr Anand said that one Vishwanath Motilal of Puranapul, the owner of AP 13 J 1797 has as many as 66 cases pending against him, followed closely by a four-wheeler registered in the name of Sanghi Polysters of Masab Tank with 65 e-Challans.
The Auto-rickshaws beat the car drivers hands down with Syed Naseer having a total of 133 e-Challans waiting to be paid, followed by Mohd Parvaiz with 132, Syed Suleman with 112, Maqsood Ahmed Khan with 109 traffic violations. In the two-wheeler category, Gopala Krishna has a total of 63 e-Challans against him while Mirza Hussain Ali has 61.
Mr Anand revealed that as much as Rs 7,31,731 is outstanding in fines from the 9,30,702 traffic violations till the end of November, 2010. He added that in 2009, e-Challans were generated to the tune of Rs 3,62,743 from 6,03,014 violations. The Additional Commissioner said that as much as 55 per cent of the e-Challans issued in 2009 and 75 per cent of e-Challans issued in 2010 have not been paid by the violators.
The Traffic police officer said that his department has now decided to pursue the issue of payment of all the pending e-Challans very seriously. He said that a list of violators on whom 10 or more e-Challans are pending has been prepared, Police Station wise. For this purpose, one team in each of the Traffic Divisions is being formed. This team will comprise of a Constable and Homeguard with a motorcycle and Cell Phone and they will go to the residences of the owners of these violating vehicles. These teams will function directly under the ACPs of Traffic.
He said that if payment of the pending e-Challans is not made immediately, the Traffic Clearance Certificate for RTA transactions like Duplicate RC, Sale ' purchase ' transfer, other state NOC, will not be issued henceforth to the violators. The vehicle may be seized and Court proceedings may be initiated. He also warned that criminal case of cheating may be registered apart from steps to cancel the Driving Licence of the vehicle owner or even getting the RC of the vehicle suspended.
