Miryalguda yard receives record volume of paddy Nalgonda, Dec 13 (INN): Despite the heavy rains which wrecked havoc in the Coastal Andhra region due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, the agriculture market yard in Miryalaguda in Nalgonda district on Monday registered a record input of paddy. According to agriculture officials, farmers brought 22,000 quintals of paddy on Monday, the largest volume on record since the establishment of market yard in the region. During normal days, the farmers bring paddy to the tune of one or two thousand quintals per day. 'This is the first time, the Agricultural Produce Market Committee has received such a huge volume of paddy from the region this season,' agriculture officials said.
The officials were quick to allay any fears about the massive input by saying that the yard has sufficient space to store the paddy and stated there is no need to worry. Miryalguda is famous for paddy farming and it is listed among the top five paddy markets in Andhra Pradesh. The town is also famous for the large number of rice mills which have set up over the years.
