Alert police foils OUSJAC bike rally Hyderabad, Dec 13 (INN): Demanding unconditional withdrawal of all police cases registered against students, who participated in the separate statehood agitation, Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee on Monday took out a two-wheeler rally from the campus to the State Assembly. Tension prevailed in the Osmania University once the announcement of Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy that the cases against only some of the students would be lifted flashed on TVs.
Raising Jai Telangana slogans, the students demanded that all police cases against students be lifted forthwith and unconditionally. They set on a bike rally in protest against Ms Sabitha Indra Reddy announcement. The rally was scheduled to start from the Osmania University campus and culminate at the Assembly. However, the police foiled the plans of students even before they could get the rally underway. Reacting on the Home Minister's statement in the Assembly, Telangana Joint Action Committee Convener M Kodandaram said that the Home Minister's statement lacked clarity.
He said that that the Telangana movement would be intensified if the government fails to lift all cases on students immediately. 'If the government has any commitment towards Telangana, it should lift all cases against students, whether there are serious or non-serious immediately', he demanded. Later Prof Kodandaram, accompanied by a few TRS workers visited the students, who were lodged in the Cherlapally Central jail.
