RTC to run 500 services to offset auto strike Hyderabad, Dec 13 (INN): The Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation will operate an additional 500 bus services in the city to offset the inconvenience likely to be faced by commuters due to the auto-rickshaw strike call by the Auto Parirakshana Porata Committee. The Auto Parirakshana Porata Committee consists of 17 Unions. It has called for a bandh and a 'Chalo Assembly' protest on December 14 to press for increasing the existing auto fares and other issues. According to sources, more than one lakh auto-rickshaws will be off the roads on Tuesday.
According to RTC sources, the Corporation will run additional buses services from midnight of December 13 night. The RTC has also decided to put in place 'point-to-point' services in the suburbs. The commuters can pay a flat rate of Rs 10 for reaching one point to the other. The South Central Railway also decided to run 12 MMTS trains various parts in the city to meet the rush of passengers. Meanwhile, Transport Minister Botsa Satyanaraya on Monday invited Auto Owners Association to talks on Tuesday evening. He also appealed to auto drivers to drop their `Auto Bandh' and Chalo Assembly on Tuesday. However, the Auto Owners Association decided to continue their bandh on Tuesday despite invitation by Minister for talks.
