CM to unveil Louis Braille's statue Hyderabad, Dec 14 (INN): Hyderabad Mayor Banda Karthika Chandra Reddy on Tuesday held a meeting with members of various Disabled Associations in connection with installation of the statue of Louis Braille at Nalgonda X Roads, Malakpet on the occasion of his 202nd birth anniversary celebrations. Louis Braille's birth anniversary would be celebrated on January 4, 2011 with the joint coordination of state government's Department of Disabled Welfare, the AP Vikalangula Co-operative Corporation, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and other concerned Disabled Welfare Organizations.
The Disabled Organization Committee Members requested the Mayor to invite the Chief Minister for inauguration of the statue on the occasion. The members also requested her to arrange the programme in a phased manner giving wide publicity to the programme through GHMC. Taking the members plea into consideration, Ms Karthika Reddy directed the concerned officials to interact with GHMC Zonal Commissioner (South) to organize the programme involving the Disabled Associations. Additional Commissioner (UCD) G Priyadarshini and Additional Commissioner (Parks) P Anuradha, Director of Sports SR Premraj and members of the Disabled Organizations were present.
