ACB raids on checkposts reveals unaccounted cash Hyderabad, Dec 16 (INN): Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths on Wednesday and Thursday conducted simultaneous surprise checks on the integrated check posts and some other important check posts and seized a total amount of Rs 2,25,925 collected by officials directly or through illegal agents as bribe. A total of 7 check posts including 5 integrated check posts were surprised by ACB teams.
The integrated check posts includes officials of Transport, Excise, Commercial Taxes, Agriculture and Marketing, Mines and Geology, Civil supplies and Forest departments. It is headed by a DCTO from the Commercial Taxes Department. The surprise checks revealed various irregularities like inadequate/no checking of vehicles, evasion of taxes, overloading, misuse of transit permits, employing of private agents, unauthorized absence of staff from duty.
The officials seized Rs 19,600 from integrated check post, Bhoraj, Adilabad, Rs 35,620 from integrated check post, Saloora, Nizamabad, Rs 40,400 from integrated check post, Bheemunivaripalem, Nellore, Rs 12,600 from Naraharipet checkpost in Chittoor, Rs 41,615 from Purushottapuram checkpost in Srikakulam, Rs 19,100 from commercial tax checkpost of Kodikonda in Anantapur, and rs 56,990 from transport department checkpost of Garikapadu in Krishna district.
