OU Registrar denies reports of VC quitting Hyderabad, Dec 19 (INN): Osmania University Registrar C Beena on Sunday denied the reports which appeared in a section of media that varsity Vice-Chancellor Tirupathi Rao may submit his resignation from the post. The Registrar's statement comes after media reports said that Prof Tirupati Rao may be replaced by former Director General of Police Swaranjit Sen. Speculation that Prof Tirupathi Rao would be shunted from his post started after he rescheduled the semester exams of PG students and stated that the exams would be conducted as per the wish of students. He was locked inside the University library for two hours by students who were demanding postponement of exams till the police cases were lifted.
Governor ESL Narasimhan, who is also the Chancellor of the University, had taken a serious note of the VC's statement and sought explanation from Prof Tirupathi Rao. Mr Narasimhan had asked all VCs to ensure that the semester and other exams are conducted as per the academic calendar at a VCs meeting held recently. The Governor had asked the VCs to ensure that all semester examinations are conducted by December end or put off till March or April next year, in view of Justice B N Srikrishna Commission submitting its Report on situation in the state by December 31. Media reports had stated that the Governor was contemplating to replace Prof Tirupathi Rao with an IPS officer as he had failed to control the situation in the University.
