Gas leak at Dr Reddy's lab, two killed Hyderabad, Dec 22 (INN): Two employees of a drug manufacturing company were killed and two others fell unconscious after inhaling suspected poisonous gas in the city on Wednesday. According to reports, the gas leakage was occurred at Third Unit of Dr Reddy's Laboratory located at Industrial Development Area in Bollaram, Jinnaram mandal in Medak district. The laboratory has confirmed the death of the two employees-Sridhar Reddy, a chemist hailing from Guntur district and Deepak, a contract labourer hailing from Orissa state.
The mishap took place in a chemical manufacturing unit where nitrogen gas leaked, killing the two employees on the spot. 'Only after examination by the medical experts, we can know the name of the chemical which leaked,' the officials said. The condition of two others is stated to be out of danger. The firm's Bollaram manufacturing facility produces active pharmaceutical ingredients. Police said the victims at the company's facility that is located in Medak district were on night duty. Reacting to the news, shares of the pharmaceutical company fell a whopping 4.13 per cent on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
