Secunderabad station gets mechanized laundry Hyderabad, Dec 24 (INN): The South Central Railway on Friday commissioned the ultra-modern Mechanized Laundry Plant at Secunderabad Railway Station to undertake washing of Bedrolls and Linen used on the Railways by means of state-of-the art machinery.
The decision to optimize the quality of Bedrolls supplied to railway passengers was taken by Union Minister for Railways Mamata Banerjee. SCR General Manager MS Jayanth inaugurated the facility which is the second of its kind on South Central Railway next to the one commissioned at Kacheguda recently. The Mechanized Laundry Plant is also proposed to be set up at Tirupati shortly.
Presently, the Bedrolls are being washed by the private contractors and the quality of washing has been leading to complaints from the travelling public. With the introduction of Mechanized laundries the quality of washing of Bedrolls will help provide much cleaner linen on trains. The Mechanised Laundry plant has been commissioned at a cost of Rs. 89.86 lakhs with a capacity of washing 4,000 Bedrolls per day. The major equipment of the plant is imported from various countries like USA, Spain, China etc.
