Numaish goes environment friendly Hyderabad, Dec 30 (INN): Preparations are on at full swing to ensure that everything is ready before Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy inaugurates the 71st All India Industrial Exhibition-2011 at the Numaish Maidan (Exhibition Grounds) at Nampally at 5 PM on January 1. The Numaish or Exhibition, an annual 45-day event will see visitors from all over the state and the country thronging the 2,500 stalls set up this time around. Central and State Government departments and Public Sector undertakings will also set up shop among these stalls.
Minister for Panchayat Raj K Jana Reddy, who is also the president of the Exhibition Society, told media persons, that the government has taken an initiative to curb the use of plastics to help the environment. Mr Jana Reddy said that the stallholders have been told to use only paper/leaf plates, paper cups, paper bags in the Exhibition and not to use the coloured and recycled plastic bags with a thickness of less than 20 microns.
The Minister said that the Exhibition will see a large number of corporate and multinational companies participating and added that a private company will provide security services for the 45-day period. He also revealed that a medical check-up centre will also be set up during the course of the Exhibition where free basic super specialty camps along with free consultants with cardiologist, orthopaedics, oncology, diabetology, gynaecology, general surgery and dermatology camps.
Mr Jana Reddy added that the Exhibition this time around would be seeing a leap into the Hi-Tech era with high-tech printed tickets with wi-fi connections to the ticket dispensing machines. The Minister added funds accrued from the conduct of the Exhibition are being spent on sponsoring/running 18 educational institutions in and around Telangana region.
Meanwhile, the mini train which has been the favourite of visitors all through its history will see the introduction of the Classic Numaish, for the benefit of the visitors in general and children in particular. In addition, safe drinking water arrangements have been made at various places in the Exhibition. For the entertainment of the visitors, several cultural programmes would be conducted in the Exhibition Club during the exhibition period.
January 11 will be Ladies Day, January 31 will be Children's Day. The Well Baby Show will be organised during the first week of February 2011. The Exhibition Society will organise the Mehendi Competition on January 8 from 10 AM to 1 PM; Rangoli Colours on January 9 from 10 AM to 1 PM; Flower arrangements and garland making competitions will be held on January 16, at 11 AM to 1 PM. The Artisans Day will be held on on January 22 from 10 AM to 1 PM while the Water Colour Painting competition will be held on January 23 from 10 AM to 1 PM.
